STRENGTH RUNNING · LONG RUNS

The purpose of running long

The publisher’s episode with David Roche discusses how long-run choices depend on the runner and the context. Our listening prompt: which question would you bring back to your own plan?

Listen for context, not a universal rule.

A personal race story and a coaching discussion do different jobs. Enjoy the story without assuming that its choices are instructions for your current training. When a guest describes a workout, ask who it was designed for, what came before it, and what the conversation leaves out.

Notice when an episode discusses a particular race edition, product, or app feature. Check current official information before relying on a detail that may have changed. A useful older conversation can remain worth hearing while its practical information needs verification.

Keep one takeaway.

Write one useful idea or question after listening. Some takeaways lead to a simple action, such as checking a participant guide. Others belong in a conversation with your coach or an appropriate health professional. An interesting idea does not have to become an immediate change to your week.
